privacy policy.
Who we are
This policy is published by Tiger Pistol Pty Ltd (ACN 150 243 262), trading as The Pistol ("we", "us"), a media agency based in Melbourne, Australia. It explains how we handle personal information collected through thepistol.com.au (the "website"). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect through the website
The website has no forms, accounts or comments, so we don't ask you for personal details here. We do collect some information automatically when you visit:
- pages you view, how far you scroll and what you click on the website;
- your browser, device type, screen size and language;
- the site or link that brought you here; and
- your approximate location, worked out from your IP address.
We use this to understand how people use the website and to improve it.
Analytics and advertising tools
We use these third-party services, which set cookies or similar technologies:
- Google Analytics 4 measures visits and interactions. Google processes this information on our behalf. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag helps us understand the kinds of organisations and roles that visit the website, and may be used to show relevant LinkedIn content to past visitors. LinkedIn gives us aggregated reports only; we can't see who you are. You can manage this in your LinkedIn advertising settings.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website will still work.
Information we handle for clients
When we provide services to a client, we may handle personal information that the client gives us or that sits in their marketing platforms, such as customer lists or sales data. We handle that information under our agreement with the client and only for the services they've asked for.
Sharing and overseas disclosure
We don't sell personal information. Google and LinkedIn may store and process website data outside Australia, including in the United States. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as we need it. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or make a complaint about how we've handled it, by emailing privacy@thepistol.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
